Preschool Classes
I offer a professionally developed preschool curriculum called Mother Goose Time for children over the age of two. Mother Goose Time is a comprehensive, research-based preschool curriculum that incorporates current research, best practices and child-led exploration.
The curriculum is delivered monthly and includes thematic resources uniquely designed to support educators in providing hands-on experiences where children learn by doing. The goal of the curriculum is to inspire both educators and children to experience learning through creative expression, play and open-ended discovery.
In each monthly curriculum box, there is a lesson plan book that explains in detail how to present the activities for that day and an individually wrapped packet for every day of the month. This allows the teacher to open the packet for that day and get started right away. That helps the teacher focus their time on teaching rather than trying to plan what they will be doing day by day. Mother Goose time includes letters, numbers shapes, colors, Spanish words, and sign language. Parents also receive a monthly newsletter to keep them informed on what their child is learning about.
Some activities you will see immediately as worksheets and crafts that your child brings home, and some activities are hands-on like circle time, music, games, finger plays, and songs. These things your child may tell you about or you will witness over time through your child's development. Every activity is specifically designed to enhance specific skills, but all the children know is they are having fun!!! Children learn through repetition, so by having monthly themes rather than weekly or biweekly, it really helps children to store information in their long term memory. By investing time and money into a pre-planned curriculum by a professional company, it ensures that no area of a child's development is left unaddressed socially, emotionally, physically, or intellectually.
In addition to the curriculum, Theresa also has a board certified music therapist (Ms. Sara) who comes weekly. She is contracted through Child Care Aware of Kansas to teach Sing Move and Learn for Topeka Public Library. She also does story time for local book and toy stores. She works with public schools as well as private Child Cares who wish to enhance the literacy and musical experience of their classes.
